Women's 100 Back:
The tone of preliminary swims at this meet had been for the most part fairly dreary. That all changed when Hayley McGregory clocked 59.15 in the penultimate heat this morning to break Natalie Coughlin's world record. Watching from the stands, I could see Natalie's entire demeanor change. Only Natalie and Teri McKeever probably know what her original race plan was, but I'm guessing that at that moment Natalie decided that Hayley's reign would be short lived. Just a few bullet thoughts about this morning's preliminary session in Omaha
Men's 400 IM
The favorites, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, looked like they were taking a bath coming home in their respective swims. Robert Margalis had a strong swim at 4:15 but doesn't look as if he will threaten the leaders. The biggest surprise was Pat Mellors, a year removed from his strong 4:12 swim that led him to take a year off from school to train specifically for this meet. Pat ended up with a time of 4:24.

WORLD AND NATIONAL MASTERS SWIMMING RECORDS FALL AT THE 2008 INTERNATIONAL GAY & LESBIAN AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPSSix World, 16 National and 130 IGLA Swimming Records Set WASHINGTON, DC, Thursday, June 26, 2008 – An astounding 152 swimming records were broken during the International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics Championships (IGLA) in the greater Washington, DC area from June 19th – 22nd. Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen and former Olympian Glenn Mills turned in particularly impressive races, breaking six International Amateur Swimming Federation (FINA) masters world records. Loyola Swimming adds Katie Hoff to coaching Staff

Olympic swimmer Katie Hoff will join the Loyola College coaching staff, head coach Brian Loeffler announced
today. Hoff will both attend classes and serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the swimming and diving
program beginning this fall.
"I am thrilled to have Katie join my staff in the fall,” says Coach Loeffler. “She has a wealth of swimming
experience that we will draw from to make our team that much better."
Hoff comes to Loyola with a highly impressive resume as an Olympian and World Record holder. Only 19 years of
