Wow! Wow! and Wow! again the greatest accomplishment in sport has happened!

Congrats Michael
Jeff Grace posted August 16 at 9:41pm.
That was the sweetest two points I got in this whole competition!!! Way to go Ryan Cochrane!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Medina posted August 16 at 10:05am.
Jeff, I think everybody (whether they want to admit it or not) is realising that although Sweetenham shook things up and give every body a good kick up the bum it was exactly what British Swimming needed. The only one that is not giving Bill credit seems to be Karen Pickering (who commentates on BBC radio). I'm not exactly sure what happened between her and Sweetenham but it does seem personal. These results show the kind of toughness that he wanted from the athletes. Michael Scott seems to take more of a back seat and is an administrator. He lets the individual coaches do their jobs.
One interesting point that Sharon Davies put forward is that Sweetenham, while he gave the structure that is providing this success, he may not have been the best person to have around at major meets. Apparently he was very stern and the swimmers were not enjoying competing while they feel around the camp is a lot more jovial now. In saying that this is a new breed of swimmers and seem like tougher personalities because of the strictness of his regime.
Personally, Sweetenham was the right man at that right time and although there were VERY talented swimmers around they didn't have the mental strength needed. Now they do!
Jeff Grace posted August 15 at 10:10pm.
I know we have got some Brits that post on the site - my question to you - With your success are you thanking Sweetenham for his time there? or Was it the lack of his presence in the last year that pushed you over the top?
Kyle Morrison posted August 15 at 9:43pm.
whats this about the serbians protesting phelps's win?
ahelee posted August 15 at 9:37pm.
ANYONE WHO CALLS A 7TH GOLD MEDAL A LETDOWN...
MAN - I BET THEY HAVE A HARD TIME EVEN GETTING OUT OF BED EVERY MORNING!

I am stoked to have been able to witness this Michael Phelps & company magic!
Jeff Grace posted August 15 at 9:34pm.
I don't know, I don't think a finish like that can be a let down unless your last name is Cavic.
Kyle Morrison posted August 15 at 9:26pm.
wow, but theyre gonna say it was a let down because it wasnt a WR... and it kinda was, because i heard something about phelps going a 51.6 in the 100 fly LCM from a push without a fastskin at training camp
Jeff Grace posted August 15 at 9:15pm.
Can someone top Lezak? Holy crap - .01 how did Phelps do that, that was incredible! What a finish to this story in his individual events!
Chris DeSantis posted August 14 at 10:15pm.
Trickett went out a little too fast as well. No reason for her to be anywhere near Steffen's lane with the open lane next to her. What happened to Veldhuis? She's just so much better off a relay start.
Jeff Grace posted August 14 at 10:13pm.
Wow again how many times are we going to see the same mistake - am I imagining things or did Trickett let Steffan draft on that last 50.
Chris DeSantis posted August 14 at 10:12pm.
Jeff I thought you had Lochte second in that event! I was sure that was when i would start my comeback. Shucks.
Jeff Grace posted August 14 at 10:02pm.
Wow what a finish to that 200 IM .01 between Lochte and Cseh - crazy!!
Anonymous Coward posted August 10 at 10:54pm.
wow that was by far the greatest race i have ever seen. 46.06 is absolutely unbelievable
Kyle Morrison posted August 10 at 10:48pm.
ok i converted it, 46.06= 39.75 scy!!!!!!!!!

bernard was out in a 21.27 (yeah, under the 50 WR on the first split of a relay 100)
phelps was 47.51, .01 over the old WR, which was broken by sullivan with a 47.24
weber gale was a 47 flat, jones was a 47.6
the usa broke the record by 3.99 seconds!!!!!!
that was INSANE
there were 5 teams under the WR from prelims (USA, france, australia, italy, sweeden)
canada was .03 over the world record from prelims
that was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff Grace posted August 10 at 10:45pm.
Wow I don't believe what I am watching did Lezak really I mean really just split 46.06!!!

Man this is the craziest thing I have ever seen!! What a show!!
Matt Salzberg posted August 10 at 8:40am.
Um.. i don't know where to post about this.. but the prelims of the 400 free relay were absurd! 3 teams breaking the WR! And although the US only used one of their 4 finals guys, and France only used 2, after seeing their 2 splits made me really uneasy. Leveaux lead off in 47.7 and Bousquet anchored in.. 46.63!! Cullen went 47.61, so that means that the entire american contingent will be easily around 47.5's or faster, but I don't know if that's going to be enough. Especially with Bernard/Bousquet bringing up the rear for France.
Kyle Morrison posted August 9 at 9:39pm.
lochte seems to be missing his grill up there on the podium...
Jeff Grace posted August 9 at 9:32pm.
Wow that was a great 400 free - hats off to Jensen and Zhang on the back half - Hackett keeps the rep of not delivering at the Olympics in the 400
Kyle Morrison posted August 9 at 9:26pm.
chris- hackett is wearing a full body with the arms like ian thorpe... feel free to hate
Kyle Morrison posted August 9 at 9:18pm.
nice call jeff... and i couldnt believe that he turned 2 seconds under WR pace going into the last 50... utter madness
Jeff Grace posted August 9 at 9:09pm.
Yeah good job Cseh - holy crap did I just watch 4:03?????
Anonymous Coward posted August 9 at 11:41am.
lochte will win one
Floswimming posted August 7 at 6:52pm.
Good eye guys thanks for the noticing that - it is all correct now.
Kyle Morrison posted August 7 at 5:50pm.
100 breast and womens 100 fly and mens 4x100 and maybe womens 400 free are flipped
Anonymous Coward posted August 7 at 5:28pm.
Looks like the day 2 entries were flipped between DeSantis and Grace. M 100 breast looks wrong.
