At some point in the last month the Olympic hangover ended and the swim season returned. Ok let me take a step back... The season started for the swim fan. Most of you swimmers and coaches are three months into your season. The point is the season is in full swing. It's a great time of year.

You know what else happened in the last month? Floswimming's one year anniversary. One year. A lot happened in that 12 month span. Swimming coverage blew up. As much as there is to celebrate in floswimming's first year, the biggest thing on my mind is how much more we'll grow this year.

In case you've missed it, this season we've had user contributed coverages from all over the world on a weekly basis. Thanks to swim fans like Lucas Boas, Jennifer Strasburger, Jimmy Morris, Kenton Harris, and Shawn Klosterman we've been able to see meets from Brazil to Boston and a bunch of places in between. Why not your school? Why not your swimmers? Why not your team? Chances are you yourself have sat through and watched a swim meet from start to finish. Why not record and upload it for all to see?

Here's how: Bring a buddy, one films and one commentates. After the races, go down on deck and ask jenny swimmer how good it felt to take the lead on the breastroke leg of the 4 IM en route to a pool record. Get the files on your computer and go to the coverage page on floswimming and click create a coverage, fill in the info, save it, click upload videos, drag and drop them, send floswimming an email and we'll put up a flash headline on the homepage. Its that easy, especially with help from a buddy.

Speaking of the buddy system, I need some help on the road. I leave tomorrow for the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina and I could use a hand filming the races this weekend starting Thursday the 20th. Also, the first weekend in December (4th-6th) is going to be HUGE! We need help in Austin for Texas Invite, Federal Way for Husky Invite, George Mason for the Tom Dolan meet, and every other invite going on that weekend. If you are going to an invite that weekend send me a message and let me know so I can make sure you're all set up.

Slowly but surely floswimming is changing the way we follow the sport of swimming. No longer will results be the only way to enjoy a meet we can't attend. We Want Race Videos!

Will anyone be covering the Chesapeake Elite Meet in OK in a few weeks? The coverage from last year was great! I'll be swimming, otherwise I would record. Then again, videotaping the meet might be a good excuse for getting out of the 200fly!

I'm afraid to volunteer to video USMS stuff here in the SE. My buddy might take me up on the offer. ;)

I'm having trouble uploading my videos. Do they have to be a specific file format? What am I missing?

It really is that easy! And you don't need a fancy HD camcorder to do it. I used the movie mode on my little digital camera and it turned out great. Internet videos aren't high quality to save space, so there's no point in having a fancy camera. Your digital camera will do a fine job. I did get a miniature tripod called a Gorilla that wraps around the railing- that helped a lot.

Bloggers Unite! Blogging will kill the video star! Let's blog the heck out of the meet coverage! Mrs. Coach and DeSantis are right! Who needs video?! Nothing will ever be better than stroke by stroke commentary with knowledgeable reflection, historical background, witticisms and other literary tomfoolery. We're gonna show all y'all!

Thanks for the shout out, I'll have UMD, UMBC vs Towson tri-meet from this past weekend and I'll be in attendance of the Bucknell Invite this upcoming weekend.

I would cover the Tom Dolan invite since I live in the DC area but I'll be in NYC that weekend...

I thought people wanted more blogs. Come on...who wants to watch a race instead of just reading ME describe races that I wasn't even at. THINK people.
