Flocoverage
December 2, 2007
What'd you think of the Texas Invite Coverage? Hopefully it's better than looking at time results... I never liked the fact that the best way to find out about a meet you couldn't see in person was to look at time results. The idea is to do coverage like that for as many meets as I can get to.
Even though it was a lot of work, I have to say I love what I'm doing. I got to talk to some of the top minds in the sport, and watch the sport's top level athletes. Its something that every swimmer should get the chance to do, and that's what floswimming is trying to bring.
Every swimmer in the world should see a 41 second 100 freestyle.
Every swimmer in the world should know what a 4:13 men's and 4:38 women's 500 free looks like.
Every swim fan should see the wave coming off 6 guys going 1:34.5 or better in a 200 free.
Every sports fan in the world should see Brendan Hansen and Aaron Peirsol race. Times alone give such a limited view of a race. Peirsol's 1:44 in the 200 IM wasn't the fastest 200 IM in the country this weekend, but watching Aaron Peirsol race an off event... just to race... is something that will last in my mind so much longer than reading the time 1:40:08. (not to take anything away from Ryan Lochte's race, but chances are I'll never see it. Unless someone uploads it to floswimming...)
And every swimmer in the world is going to love seeing the 100 IM as a bonus event. Hopefully enough to consider adding it to more meets...
But most importantly, every swimmer should see themselves swim.
