The Trials have begun!

Well, Trials has finally started, and I am loving it! So far, it's been an amazing
meet, and we're only halfway through the second day. There has been some very fast swimming - three world records in the last 24 hours already, and probably more to come tonight! As expected, the showdown between Phelps and Lochte was very exciting, and reminded me of watching Phelps first break that record back in Ft. Lauderdale in 2002 - except that time it was Erik Vendt who dipped under the world record with him. Back then, I think Phelps went 4:11 something, to break Tom Dolan's record. Now, the record is 4:05. Ridiculous.

And this morning in prelims, I could only imagine what Natalie was thinking as Hayley
McGregory broke her 100 back world record right in front of her. Apparently it didn't
phase her too badly, because it was hers again not more than 3 minutes later.

But the excitement is not limited to just these world record swims - I have been loving
watching people in the early heats drop huge amounts of time and surprise people, like Scot Robison in the 200 - from heat 3, he dropped almost 4 seconds from his seed time and qualified 12th for semis! Like I said in my first post, everybody has a chance to shape the team. You never know what can happen. That is the beauty of this meet.

As far as things for me go - I can hardly wait to swim on wednesday. I am ready for my meet to begin. But for now, I'm heading back to the pool to cheer for my teammate Adam Mania, who made semis tonight in the 100 back. Let's go Adam!

We cheered as loud as we could from Two Rivers, but unfortunately it didn't help!
