Shanteau:

I think that everyone in USA Swimming is supporting you. Plus, if history is any indication, athletes who recover from testicular cancer go on to even greater feats afterwards.

This guy is amazing. He kicks butt (he beat Brendan Hansen!) at Trials then gets this and still is unfazed! An amazing inspiration for many people. This attitude is amazing! I hope we does well at Beijing.

Don't know if eric reads this, but congratulations on making it to Beijing. This experience with cancer is something that really puts the Olympics into perspective. I wish you the best of luck with swimming and with the treatment.

Wow - first Garett great job in tackling a hard subject - some great questions and insight.

Shanteau - amazing in how someone can handle something like this with such poise. Where he is in his situation ready to say that he is willing to be a face for cancer is amazing.
Nothing is more amazing though to see how someone can have that much mental strength to achieve what he did while going through what he has had to go through.
Good luck Eric!

I am sure there are many out there who would have mailed it in. Not this guy, the total second half of the interview was all about Beijing, not that other 'slight inconvenience....' Neither battle will require anything less than, 'everything.' I have faith that the guy who seemingly was perpetually 3rd, will kick the Big C's ass!... And, maybe even the rest of the breaststrokers of the World! Go get 'em Eric, we're all cheering for you...
