Three tips towards swimming freestyle faster and longer. 1.) Have good posture. Enable yourself to swim tall and balance your hips near the surface.
2.) Utilize core rotation to create power. Keep your hips and shoulders rotating at all times. 3.) See anchor points with your hands at the very top of your stroke. Then rotate and stroke over the previously set anchor point.
