USA Swimming doesn't leave Texas Senior Circuit Swimmers short

Because the Texas A&M pool was determined to be short of 50 meters at the Texsa Senior Circuit a few weeks ago, the swims will not count as official times. However, the swimmers who made their first Olympic Trial cut will still be able to compete in Omaha, entered with the minimum qualifying time.

Combining the NCAA Championships...

In an attempt to create a "festive" atmosphere, the NCAA is talking about combining the Men's and Women's NCAA Championships. Another piece of USA Swimming's suggestion to the NCAA is making Indianapolis the premanent home for the championship. (Link)

Crippen, Fabian win 5K open water titles
Fran Crippen of Mission Viejo Nadadores (pictured left) won the men’s title today at the USA Swimming 5K Open Water National Championships in Fort Myers, Fla. His time was 55 minutes, 54.5 seconds. Thirteen-year-old Eva Fabian of Greenwood Memorial Swim Club took the women’s race, finishing in 1 hour, 2 minutes and 6.2 seconds.

Busy weekend for open water

Haley Scott was a freshman swimmer at the University of Notre Dame when her team was involved in a fatal bus crash while returning home from a meet. Though initially paralyzed, Scott came back to swim for Notre Dame 18 months later. With the help of USA Swimming, she wrote What Though the Odds, an account of this life-changing event.
