Glendale Swimmer, parent, coach - whichever one you are. Has Glendale ever had a foreign exchange student swim for them? I am pretty sure you have. Have you ever had someone move into your district just to swim? I am pretty sure you have. In fact, I am pretty sure you had 2 of those this year, both of which scored points at State Anna Leonard and Gretchen Stein). Being a USA swimmer, you know these things. There is nothing wrong with having foregin exchange students swim for you. In the KC area, it is very well known by the exchange program that Blue Springs is always willing to host kids if they have a swimming background. Nothing wrong with having a reputation of being willing to host kids that want to swim and study. You girls handled defeat pretty well at the meet, don't let it catch up to now that it is a month later. We will go at it again next year and see what happens.

I thought glendale was going to win this meet too. I find it ironic that last year Blue Springs graduated three major scorers and this year they showed up with a foreign exchange student who scored 26 points on her own along with being on 2 relays that scored at total of 68 points. I hope that as you read this you keep in mind that Glendale only lost by 20 and a 1/2 points. It has been brought to my attention that a parent of the Blue Springs team has said this was not an accident or a coincidence. Im not making excuses for Glendale but I think that at a meet of this magnitude things should be played fair. If MSHSAA is not going to inforce the rule of not recruiting swimmers then they should get rid of the rule. I find it humerous that Blue Springs got so upset about taking 3rd at the mens State Campionship because Rockhurst has a reputation of recruiting swimmers from Kansas. But Blue Springs turned around and recruited swimmers for their womens side. Sounds somewhat hypocritical to me.

I thought Glendale was going to win this meet? What happened? Did they have a bad meet, a big DQ or did Blue Springs really swim up? Didn't they beat Blue Springs all season long?

First was Blue Springs, Second Glendale, Third Lafayette. Still no word on whether Taylor or Amber got Swimmer of the meet. Both had great swims. Hayley had a great meet to, but the others had two records.
Thank you!

the rest of the vids should be finished loading in the morning. sorry for the wait. long drive home with no internet access. thank you all for being patient with our limitations. Also-- a huge thank you to Brook Walker, William Broch, Caroline Johnson and Molly Brammer for getting all the race footage! This coverage would have failed miserably without your hard work!!

Great swims by Taylor, especially prelims. Amazing. And congratulations on the 4-peat, taking down Caroline Rodriguez's record (another fine 4-peat swimmer).

Taylor took the 100 back record by 2 seconds, probably 54.0ish. and the 200free under 1:50 I think. Also around 50.0 in the 100 but it was a lead off on a DQ'ed relay so it didn't count.

Thats all i heard so far!

It's sad I'm no longer in high school to compete in this meet. I have a feeling this meet is going to be fast. We have some fast times posted without fast suits, and I just can't wait to see what these girls do with the racing suits on. Really upsetting Master's can't go after her second round of double wins, but we all know there will be big things happening with her going to Mizzou next year to swim! T. Wohrely is going to be fast this year. She has dropped quite some time after switching over to the Parkway Swim Club coached by Nick Rudich. I have a feeling she will be breaking both records (1 back, 2 free). Also, Hallie Stupp will be very strong as well. Kim Steinhouse can possibly break Amber Greens hopes of wins. The 200 free will be fast. Considering half the girls on there were on the Jr's relay that broke the record.. all the girls around 1:50. Very impressive. Can't wait to see how this meet unfolds and to watch fast swims over the internet!! Get up and go girls !!! Seniors- last one fast one ;)

Once Again...   February 18, 2009 at 7:21pm
Looks like the title will be between the best in KC (Blue Springs), the best in St. Louis (Lafayette) and the best in Springfield (Glendale). Should be a good one. Not sure Lafayette has the depth to keep up with the other 2. Could come down to the end.
