It's a topic that affects everyone in the sport. The swimming suit controversy is much bigger than products like Speedo LZR, TYR Tracer, BlueSeventy NeroComp, and companies like Rocket Science, Jaked, or Arena. It's bigger than Swimming World Records. It's the future of our sport. FINA is driving the bus, but which way are we headed?
the banning of the suits has no difference in the ability of swimmer, with or without the suits records will get broken by a younger faster generation like it always has, I am exited to start talking about swimming again and not suits
They will still be sponsored, but will they be like they are now. NO WAY! I dont care what your argument is. There is no way there will be this much money in the sport without tech suits...
who says there wont be sponsoring anymore? there were swimmers being sponsored 7 years ago before fsi's came out, why wouldnt people still be sponsored because they have to go back to those days?
I really am interested to see how our pro swimmers are going to make money with the technology suits being banned. No more contracts.... no more sponsors... I have a feeling that records won't be broken for a long time not only because of the suits, but also there will be no more pro swimmers. There will be no incentive to keep swimming past college because they wont be making a decent living.
gosh, Mary T Meagher, Brian Gooddell, Larsen Jensen, Erika Hansen, Jill Sterkel, Kristine Quance, Lindsay Benko, Kaitlin Sandeno, Erik Vendt, Lenny Krayzelburg, you're right. Mark Schubert has done NOTHING for USA Swimming. What a wash.
i actually heard something similar. it wasnt a time trial though, it was before wc trials at a practice in austin - and crocker wasn't the only one, brendan put one on also just to 'see how it felt' i didn't hear a time on him though...and crocks wasn't .61, it was .16

Make list of all the reasons you think Tech Suits are a welcome addition to the sport of swimming.
For each entry substitute the word flippers for Tech Suit.
I suggest that all the reasions you want to keep tsch suits would equally apply to flippers.
No flippers - No Tech Suits
My list
Tech Suits/Flippers make for fast swimming.
Tech Suits/Flippers don't move when you throw them in the pool.
The swimmer not the TechSuit/Flippers do the swimming.
The TechSuit/Flippers are available to eveyone so an even playing field (in fact flippers are even more readily available)
So - why no flippers but you like Tech suits
thats a good argument, but is still think it's personal decision on wether or not, like every other sport in the world, swimming should have technological advances

will be intresting to see how media will cover, when usa will loose 7 to 10 world records just becose of suits , libby lenton was all for suits ,now her record is gone ,whould love to know what she thinks now
i like how floswimming is so burnt out on this issue, that it didnt even make a headline, i would like to see an interview with blueseventy showing off all their new suits, especially the blueseventy seamless bodyskin, i hope to see one of those in rome
Why not?? said: Could you explain why not? It was swum in a suit that at the time, was not FINA approved. I am pretty sure that rules for WR's dictate that the swim must be in a FINA-approved suit.
Actually the Jaked J01 was, like the B70, only unapproved from May 19th until now. He swam his race before that time and under full compliance with all rules, unlike his countryman Bernard.

Does Coach really think technology killed cycling? Try doping!
Triathlon is probably the most techno-loving sport out there and its popularity keeps growing. I'd say we need to learn to like and deal with technology in swimming. From this coaches' perspective, my swimmers love the high tech suits. We all swam in B70s and had a great time. I have to tell you that these suits have made a huge difference in the level of excitement these swimmers have.

It was reported April 9th, 2008, in the Times of London that Mark Schubert said, "My advice to athletes is, ‘You have a black-and-white decision - the money or the gold medal.' And it's going to be a real test of character."
"There is no doubt the suit makes a difference and there is no doubt that there is one manufacturer that's put millions into research while the other manufacturers are more into fashion. Nobody at this level [world-class athletes] can afford to give up 2 per cent. It is not rocket science.”
Now the true test of character will be to observe how Coach Schubert handles the US national team in Rome. Will it be the gold medals? Or the money?
why do people always say the suits are good for swimming? does anyone outside of swimming care one way or the other? world records are going to be broken any way and people outside the sport still won't care.
I just looked it up. Couldn't find anything on it.

does anyone know where we can get a descente? the suit irie wore? or an x-glide?
but really, at this point in time you have to be a sponsored swimmer im pretty sure

It looks like the only unapproved world records are ones performed in suits that were never legal, most notably Bernard's and Ierie's. I'm especially happy to see Fred Bousquet's record is only pending the doping paperwork approval. He deserves that 50 record and it never should have been called into question.
