Michael has dominated his peers since he was twelve years old. In 2000 he was a surprise qualifier in the 200 butterfly who went on to final in that event. By 2003 he had surpassed Ian Thorpe as the world's best swimmer. Expectations for Phelps are so high that he was considered a disappointment when he "only" won a gold medal in six events at the 2004 Olympics.
In 2008 he achieved his goal of 8 gold medals in very impressive form setting 7 World Records in route to his 8 Olympic Championships. In between 2004 and 2008 Michael trained at Club Wolverine in Michigan, but after the Beijing Olympics he returned to his home club North Baltimore Aquatic Club.
Around 20 Olympians as well as multiple national team members come together in what looks on paper to be one of the fastest meets in recent memory. Last year at The Missouri Grand Prix a World and American record fell, proving that Missouri's pool is one of the fastest in the country. Add to that an even deeper, faster field of swimmers and the debut of the new Speedo LZR and we've got the makings for a smoking fast kick off to the long course season. Oh yeah, and the format is set to prep the Olympians for Beijing... we're going prelims at night finals in the morning. Better eat your Wheaties...

Fak-are you saying that phelps' gold medals arent hard earned? yes phelps was given a genetic gift but he is one of the hardest if not the hardest worker out there.
Bill-shutup and go back to whatever piece of sh*t country you are from (i would assume youre one of those french gaylords). Because you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
bill shut your mouth. you have no idea what your talking about did you not see the 400 free relay. The real phelps came out there he is such a fantastic teammate. People try to hype phelps up and boast for him, but he doesnt have to have any of that. You really need to get your facts straight
Phelps is nothing but a gold-digging glory hogging PIG! He will inevitably win EIGHT gold medals in a PERFECT sweep. Why? Because GOD made him the PERFECT swimmer and the GOD of swimming. His quest to win to break the sacred Spitz record is to make other medal wins look weak in comparision. He wants to PWN the olympics and make other medalists look like just because they can only win one or two while the GOD Phelps himself can rake in 10-20 and deprive other great swimmers of even just ONE hard earned gold medal.
The Michael Phelps Medley relay: 100m BK, 53.0, 100m BR, 1:02.5, 100m FL, 50.7, 100m FR, 48.4
Add them together, you get a 3:34.6. Take off a conservative 1.5 seconds for relay starts and you've got a 3:33.1, which I believe would be beat every other nation, excepting the U.S. of course. Now that's versatility.
this was an awesome meet. i was there and it was so cool to see all of the people that i read about. i even got to talk to michael. lol... actually he apologized for stepping on my stuff adn i said its cool...but still he awknowledged me. PS ryan and michael are the hottest swimmers out there...
I hate how people say they hate Michael Phelps and the only reason for this is because he is a badass and dominates everyone!! Give the guy some props!!
He was obviously doing an interview for more than 1 person here. You can hear different people asking the question and multiple flash bulbs going off. He was actually doing a great job of keeping everyone involved like you are supposed to in that situation.

That is depth!!
