I'm going to mildly defend my picks, I shouldn't have to but I will anyway. I went with my first gut feeling. I sat there and stared at the psych sheets when they first came out and thought to myself "Wow this is going to be nuts! There are going to be so many good races. I wish I had an HD TV to watch this on..."
So when I decided to create this quick video I decided to just glance at the event and pick two swimmers who I think could finish top two in that event IF they were to swim it, like I stated in the description I didn't take many factors into account. The reasons I just did it so quick and dirty were 1. I don't have a ton of time to break down the psych sheets 2. I didn't want to loose sleep over whether I pick Gary Hall to make the team or not. (what can I saw I like the guy...). 3. I don't know what the swimmer's plans are nor do I want to try and guess I know what they are. For example, Phelps is entered in 9 events; will he swim 9 events? if not what will he scratch? Also you could look at Coughlin, for the 200 IM and 200 Free; same day, will she swim both?
I'll refer you to Chris DeSantis' lastest blog post here on floswimming about making picks (http://swimming.flocasts.org/blogs/blogger/chris_desantis/2940-making-the-picks). Like DeSantis stated it's almost impossible to pick who will finish top 2. What is almost as impossible is trying to pick who will swim the relays. When I posted the video I was already regretting picks. Like the men's 50 Free or 200 Back for the women. There are so many of the top 8-10 swimmers that have a legitimate chance of making the team. Let's not forget the darkhorses who have the swim of their lives and are seeded out of the top 10 heck maybe top 15. It's just so unpredictable.
At the end of the day i did it for a sweet floswimming shirt. which I will be happily getting for free.

it looks like he just took the top 2 seeds in every event and made the predictions that way... no way coughlin swims both the 200 free and 200 IM and the 100 back and maybe the 100 free.
some of his predictions were a little ridiculous...tarwater will most likely not make it in the 200 fly, i think gil stovall has a good chance to make an upset

Some of these picks were really hard.
