Erik Vendt
One of the world's elite distance swimmers, Erik is the American Record Holder in the 400 meter freestyle, and the US Open Record Holder in the 1500 meter… ...More about Erik

What can you say, I was upset for him, but my god does he really carry himself well. I think he just crazy on the prelim of this 200. A whole bunch of speed work and he will be 1:45 mid on this relay, and my call is that he swipes the relay from the other guys.
I hate to say it, but will Vendt even be on the relay? I'd love for him to be on it the way he has carried himself throughout the meet, but you have to think that the coaches will put Lochte on the relay since his semifinal swim was faster than everyone but Phelps.

Erik is a great guy i talk to him all the time but he went way too fast in prelims in the mile. He also didn't have the best meet

she struggled so much to say one more question, because erik talks and talks.. it's hilarious. NOOB!

Vendt will split 1:45.7 on the morning relay and make it back hopefully.
I love the lady in the background when Garrett asks a *second* question after she said one more question. She just looked so pissed. Count me among the people that was looking for something amazing out of Erik Vendt in the 1500, but I am happy he is on the team for the relay, he deserves something out of an impressive year that he's had so far.

Anonymous Coward, whoever is nice an classy does matter, you wont see y swimmers having the honor of being the olympic team captain. People remember and model themselves over the class acts in sports, ofr example more role model Michael Jordan, a nice guy, than someone like Lebron James, who cussed out his mom. Respectable and nice athletes make our sport different from most mainstream sports, which are full of y disrespectful athletes. You see in most these interviews the swimmer, win or lose, is gracious and thanks his competitors. Brendan Hansen for example had a great interview and was a real great guy. even if he fell short from his goals, he should be respected for the way he dealt with it. Vendt is no different, he has always been gracious in both defeat (400 and 1500) and victory (200) and how he carries himself and his amazing mindset make him a better athlete than most going to Beijing. So it doesnt always matter who is faster, a man like this deserves all respect in the world.

p.s.: that girl that says one more question is not bad looking!
Who knows about that relay now. He said he hadn't done an ounce of speed work and went 1:46.9, so he's got a month to do speed work and figure out how that works. I think he blows some doors off and makes it back at night.
