Ridiculous   July 23, 2008 at 12:13pm
Naber - "Christine, aren't you glad that Natalie Coughlin didn't swim the 100 fly?"
Magnuson - ???? What do you say to that????

Naber - "Natalie, how does it feel to lose to a 41 year old?"
Natalie - ????? How do you respond to that??
Worst interviews ever. The whole crowd knew it, the athletes knew, it everyone knew it.

I've watched twice and have somehow managed to miss you asking him about the Victory lap interviews both times. Can you tell me at what point it happens? I feel like I'm losing my mind here.

If you listen to the interview, I do ask him what his purpose is in the walking interview after the awards presentation.

Anonymous At Trials.   July 21, 2008 at 5:42pm
What this guy did in many of his post awards ceremony interviews at Trials was garbage and very disrespectful to many of the athletes. I saw every single one of them firsthand and I wanted to puke. Hence, while I would have watched this in a heartbeat before trials, but I now decline to watch this interview because I assume you did not ask him any questions that made him very uncomfortable. One of the few ways I can protest it. If you don't know what we are talking about, search a few swimming forums for Naber and you can decide for yourself. Great swimmer, Great Olympian, Lousy job at Trials. He owes every one those he 2008 Olympians he made squirm an apology.

He might have been a great swimmer but he is a has been, he is full of himself and if the spotlight is not on him he needs to spoil the swimmers in the now at least thats how he came across at trials as a selfish arrogant prick. This guy should be fired, at least from announcing...swimming skills don't = great interviews...there is personal questions and then there is just flat out rude this guy is an ass...and should be fired. He needs a wake up call.

REPLACE Naber!   July 21, 2008 at 11:40am
Tallswimmer, I agree. Naber was a great swimmer, no one is arguing that. Someone else has to see how awful he is at announcing / commentating and replace him asap.

John sits down with Chris DeSantis and they talk about the greatest swimming team the Olympics have ever seen. In 1976 John won 4 gold medals as part of that dominant USA Squad, and he talks what made that team so amazing.
