Beisel rose up the ranks as a 200 backstroke swimmer. She qualified for the 2007 World Championships in that event. In the lead up to Olympic trials she… ...More about Elizabeth

many of the women swam very well and others not so well I'd say it was 50/50

I swam at a meet with her in Attleboro Mass. I remember seeing her on TV at the olympics and being like "ha wow".

Beard's not a disappointment. She wasn't going to factor in the 200.
Ziegler? Blech. 4:09 and 8:27? practice times for her.

ok. The woman have been doing pretty well if you actually look at it. Magnuson, Soni, Hoelzer, Nat (not in the relays....) Beisel, Dara looks good. Even Hoff has been pretty good. AR 200 fr then split 154. 4:31 and 2:10 in the IMs where she just wasnt as good as Rice/Coventry. Ya she died a little in the 4 fr but 4:03 is nothing to be dissapointed in. Her 800 was her only poor swim. The only 2 REAL dissapointment have been Zeigler and to a lesser extent Beard

attractive, fast, and smart. this kid is the real deal.
i feel like the us womens team isnt living up to all the hype they had got. although theyve had some spectacular swims (soni, magnuson, coughlin), it seems like most of the high profile swimmers like hoff and ziegler just crashed. GO USA

What a cutie! She's so energetic and positive, what a fun interview. I hope she has a great 200 back!

Although some of the US swimmers are not swimming to what we all expected, I think it's great to see the competition level rising. It just means swimming is going to become more and more competitive. It won't just be Australia vs US. (although many athletes from other countries train in the US..) either way....swimming is changing!
ps. Beisel is swimming great! She's only 15....

To be honest the US women have not really impressed. Is Coughlin the only gold medalist so far??? Beisel swam quite well in the 400im i thought. Soni has swam well 200 final tonight (its at 3am here in Britian). Magnuson she did well in her 100 fly and thats about it really for the US women. Poor Poor katie Hoff 3 medals but so much expectation. I cant believe how bad she swam in the 800free.

goldmedals, I would argue Coughlin is performing very well so far and one of the few female swimmers who has been successful.
Gold Medals posted August 14 at 10:26am.
She could possibly be one of the only girls on the USA team that actually lives up to what they should be doing
