If that's the case, why won't the naval academy men's swim coach agree to compete with the falcons? Perhaps he doesn't believe that air force has better swimmers than navy? Interesting thought-USAFA better not only in the air but water as well.

I am thankful for all of the academies. Quite frankly, USAFA vs. Navy vs. Westpoint vs. Merchant Marines vs. Coast Guard- we are a fortunate nation to have such opportunities for young people. They can choose what best fits their needs.

I am just trying to give Coast Guard it's due when appropriate. They are the most selective service academy out of the 4. Personally I think Navy is the best....you can choose, land, air or sea (I'm sure you can at the others) but you can't beat Annapolis.

It's my understanding no congressional nomination is required for Coast Guard. (One less hoop to jump through).

Actually the Coast Guard Academy is the hardest to get into. They only accept 400 or 800 compared to the large number of the other Academy and they get the same amount of applicants.

Hankering to go back to school....How hard is it to get in to the Air Force Academy? Never knew it was such an athlete friendly place. What's the water survivaL course like?

That is a really cool place, and they have had some standout swimmers over the years. This site gets more diverse everyday. Our sport is a LARGE community, and it is fun to see what is going on in all kinds of places, not just the teams that finish top 3 every year at NCAAs.

AZcoach, are you still a little grumpy about that whole shaving cream in the suitcase prank?

The Air Force Academy is the most difficult of the service academies, on par with an Ivy League School... that combined with the privilege of serving your country for a number of years after graduation (some for a career), is not for everyone. This provides for a limited number of recruits as it is... anyone who thinks of insulting the athletes, or the teams, regardless of their competitive level, is full of crap.
