- See Less - Darren has been swimming all his life. He was a four year letter winner and team captain at Roosevelt High School in Seattle, WA. He began his career as a collegian at the University of Michigan. Although he was not nearly accomplished enough to join the Michigan swim team, he continued to swim on his own. After two years at Michigan he transferred to Pitzer College, where he competed for three seasons, and also ran track. Darren enjoys chocolate milk, Gossip Girl and all things swimming related.
i dont know if its just because im a backstroker, but i seriously think its way easier to kick a 50m underwater doing backstroke. i could do it forever, as long as i have a nose clip.

There has already been a lot of debate on the issue of hypoxic training and whether it is good or not. I think it is still amazing what the video shows and the idea just more debate needs to happen.
underwater swimming is basically its own sport. its basically unheard of in America, but has more common in Europe and some of Asia. they basically swim all the same events, sometimes with hypoxic, with a snorkel, or with a tank of air.

I agree and also add in a tight streamline. It is a amazing to see how some swimmers can push the limits of their bodies to see what amazing things can be accomplished.
Here are the top swims from the past two weekends of coverage. Leisel Jones's 1:06.67 in the 100 Breast last week in Tucson, and Hill Taylor's DQ'd 50 underwater (23.10) this past weekend in Austin. June 15, 2009
