part of being a swimmer is finding the fun in every set. You sound like a complainer... and if you are really going to be this negative, you should find another sport you can have fun with.
The thing that really gives me a boner about this video (besides watching flawless technique) is that everyone has their own lane... *sigh* Being pro must be the life!
PS: As Olympic champ, Cielo gets triple lane line shelter... Nice touch ;-)
JustTraining: Read the description. They're pros. You know how many pros compete in the NCAA? :o)
As far as getting an education at Auburn... Uhm no, I think they're here to train.... At the Mecca of sprint swimming (sounds so romantic, considering Sullivan, Bernard, Leveaux, Nystrand, Schoeman and Draganja all train at different locations)
Wannabe: Having fun is purely in the mind. This workout could be extremely boring if your mindset is that it's boring. If you're having a great day, 10 500's can be fun... in a different way, of course ;-)
Also, it's easier to have fun when:
1. You're worldclass and you know it. Probably easier to relax when you know you're doing something right and everyone's busting their ass trying to figure out what you do
2. You're on camera. Who wants to show they're miserable to the rest of the world?
3. You're getting paid doing a thing you love to do... Kinda like a prostitute... No, wait... :o)
i dont get it. these guys have so much fun in practice seemingly all the time. i know they do put in a whole lot of work but every time theyre on camera they look like theyre having the time of their lives and all of them are ridiculously good. its not fair...thats why when i grow up i want to be an auburn sprinter.
I want to have a practice like that! I've never done a set with your interval a # of breaths. I tried the Croc Drill the otha day at practice. It got pretty competative!:)
so like... are we gonna see a workout video with garret training with these guys like we did w losc? i hope garretts been training cuz hes gonna need to bring that 22 down to like a 19 if he wants to challenge freddy and cesar in practice
Garrett, Chris, and all of the other Floswim staff thank you for another great WWW. We as the swimming community appreciate everything and understand the workload you take on to just put up one of these WWW pieces which seem so simple to us, but really takes so much time.
With that said, I Offer a CHALLENGE to the Swimming Community: Coaches, Swimmers, Athletes, and all fans of the sport. It seems like Flotrack has us beat for workout videos, which is unacceptable in my book. WE NEED TO RAISE OUR BAR and as swimmers we always do.
My goal is instead of pressure on Garrett and the rest of the floswim crew, we post at least 1 new workout everyday. The more workouts we see of different variations the better we can help USA swimming in general. If you go back to an earlier interview Garrett had with Bowman pre-Olympics, he says the success of USA swimming is that we're all doing different things.
Wouldn't we do even better if we all share that? Everyone has cameras, and as a current Age Group Coach, kids love to film everything. Let's start filming our workouts and sharing it online!!! It will help the sport grow in popularity, but also educationaly. Swimmers will be exposed to new thoughts, but more importantly coaches will new methods.
BOTTOM LINE: Let's Not put all the pressure on Garrett and the rest of his staff to produce the videos we all want to see. Start making your own video and post it. No matter what your team does, WE WANT TO SEE IT, with everything a team can learn to do something!
Sorry for the long rant, just want haters at all facets/angles to refocus their energy!
It's not like David is not a great coach because he is. There's really no doubt about that. It's just that he's going were there's this group that is on fire and he's checking it out. Auburn is where he used to go to school.
Ya this auburn team seems like a fun group guys to practice with, but I wonder what the other guys think about practicing with a world record holder? It would be cool to see them do a sprint set off the blocks. Being able to train two guys like fred and ceaser would be awesome.
Man I want to part of that group! Suit or no suit they know how to have fun and swim fast.... looks like a perfect combination. And recovery? What a crazy concept!
awesome video. fun stuff. i remember going to a clinic at mac with marsh and ciarla (a mac alumni) when i was a kid. (btw, it's aaron ciarla not ciarlo)
It could just be an editing issue, but in the sequence following "He's a robot", Fred has his hand back up in the air (2:53), but then at 5:12 without the buoy, he's back to the "corrected" position. I'm guessing it's editing, because I like to imagine Fred as a coachable robot/ incredible athlete.
Awesome Video, great quality without "quality". Cool tunes!
Recovery is an important part of a swimmers' training, especially for sprinters. Make sure you watch the end, because "The Croc Drill," is a lot of fun to watch.
I'm down in Auburn with Keith Haden of All American Swim Supply getting some content for an upcoming series called "Hawke Talk," and I also get to spend some time with the pros that train here. Should be a good couple days.

Ok, I've been pretty good about releasing a workout a week so I figure for the sake of alliteration I should start doing a Weekly Wednesday Workout. What do you think?
recovery from what, swimming the 50 free?

Interval... 5 breaths.
Interval...3 breaths
Auburn Samurai Swimmers!
(outrageous - definitely play it out to the Croc Drill)

That's fine, as long as you just delete hateful comments, not ones that oppose your views.
