As a swimmer, Mariusz was a 2-time Olympian for Poland and finished 5th in both the 1500 and 400 freestyle at the 1988 games. In the prelims for the 400 free he set the Olympic Record.
He enjoyed success at the collegiate level as well, winning the 1650 at NCAAs as a freshman at the University of Arizona, and coming within 22 one hundredths of the NCAA record.
His transition to coaching started where his swimming career ended, at the University of Arizona. From there Mariusz took the head coaching job at Oregon State before moving on to Miami to head their swimming program.
Today he is the head age-group coach at Pine Crest in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
we have to get up early too but our pool is in doors and the pool in heated. I think it is a good idea for swimming to be in the morning because then you have the rest of the day to play with friends or do homework. Watching people how they react in the morning with a herd set while they are still tired shows a coach so much. in the morning people either did not get enough sleep and are sleepy and beeing lazy, or there are people who get up, have Starbucks and are ready to get in and go. In this video it looks like they are a little bit on the tired side but are not lazy. keep up the good work.
Ok, I've been pretty good about releasing a workout a week so I figure for the sake of alliteration I should start doing a Weekly Wednesday Workout. What do you think?
