A 2-time Olympian for Australia, Brett was a 17-time All-American at Auburn in the late '90s.
In his second year as the sprint coach at Auburn, his work speaks for itself. This year one of Brett's swimmers, Cesar Cielo, set the NCAA record in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.
I remember seeing that one, but it didn't show up under the related Auburn videos so I thought maybe it disappeared or I imagined seeing it. Seems like it is alive and well and I am not that crazy.
these guys are amazing. they are incredibly fast and their workouts are very specific. no one should give them any for what they do or don't do in their videos. keep up the good work!
PS: i love the supportive atmosphere they keep between each other.
a couple guys including myself are starting doing the dirty dozen pullup set with out stopping or even dropping to the ground non stop!! it will be up on floswimmr in a couple days!! check it out
its not just the fact that they can do pullups, its how they did them. who would of thought to do them with only your fingers? or by using a rope? and like garrett said these are just demonstrations of what they do, not a real workout. this wasn't suppose to be real intense, it was just to show everyone what kind of dryland auburn sprinters do. i really like this video, and i cant wait for part 2. i want to see more of what auburn does, whether its demonstrations or an actual workout. thanks garrett for posting this
I'm going to have to agree with not impressed. I was expecting some really innovative things in this video but they don't really do anything that I haven't seen before at the local gym. Body position drills are not anything new. Doing planks with one arm up and one leg up is a pretty common exercise and is almost exactly like what you see cielo doing. I was definitely expecting some more explosive exercises but this is only part one. To be honest, all i saw in this video was a bunch of guys messing around in the gym with one another. I'm not expecting them to do anything crazy in the weight room because they are swimmers after all, but it would be nice to see some intensity and watch the guys get some real reps in.
I have already stated that these guys are amazing swimmers... I couldn't go 18.4 or 40.9 with fins on for god's sake... All I said was that I was expecting to be shocked by what they do in the weight room and I was not. And yes, I know there is a part two which is why I said hopefully that one will be better. You guys gotta quit drooling over these guys for doing pull-ups... Yes, give them props for their swimming, bc I do, but damn... Millions of average athletes in this country can do freaking pull ups
this workout is incredable the the the cesar cielo does to kaap your head and body in line is a great creative idea and the pull ups and the rope thing a great idea aswell this is just the type of creativly hard workout you would expect to see from guys like that they work that much harder to go that much faster
true sprinters?..are the RACE Club? common...i can't bealive u are even talking about them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for real...all you guys gotta stop hating. Whether you think its impressive or not, they were cool enough to show us some basic stuff that they do..AFTER the hard stuff. It was actually pretty interesting and sparks alot of ideas so no need to hate on it because maybe you can do it. By the way...does 18.47 and 40.9 impress you?!?! because i speak for more than just myself when i say IT DOES...so chill
I think Garrett is right... This isn't their everyday workout, just a demonstrations; wait to see part 2; and stop hating. This site wasn't made for people to fight and bicker, it was made to bring together the swim community and work as an idea-sharing medium for people to improve and have fun swimming, not a pissing-contest platform.
How are you not impressed! i would like to see you do that......and i bet that you could not......it takes skills and alot of hard work and i have seen them do this kind of stuff in person and it does not look very easy! And if you dont see the point of commenting the video then dont.....but anyway i am very impressed!!
"not impressed":I just don't see the point of you commenting this video just to say how unimpressed you are by how some of the world's greates sprinters are training. You are saying how unimpressed you are, yet chances are you have no idea what these guys have done in the pool and in the weight room before this video was filmed. My whole point with this and my first post was that you and other ignorant people should just keep your mouths shut.
p.s.
please put the video of you doing this workout as soon as possible(if you cannot post it here youtube would be fine)...I need a good laugh.
I vote for Brett...oh my, what a coach!!and the autralian accent...but the only auburn men that could beat all those guys is Fred Bousquet, the hottest
the title of the video doesn't say "the greatest weight training ever video taped" but it does have some of the greatest sprinters in the world so it does say something!
K... You say that I have no right to say if I am impressed or not... what gives you the right? And yes, I could easily do all of this stuff, but that doesn't really matter considering I have no way of proving it. I just wanted to point out that u are dumb
Common..idiots..it says part 1!!!they do this things just for fun after the weight workouts. The second part will be probably uploaded very soon, so it will be more concentrated on the weights.lets wait..and yeah, if it makes them swimm faster, so be it.all of you just can watch them competing at the olympics!!haha
good luck!!
These guys were nice enough to demonstrate some of the stuff they do, that they weren't doing the day I filmed them. The other stuff they did is on the way, but seriously stop the hating.
I agree. The description says weight workout. Where's the weight. Sets of three pullups???? Come on seriously. This is good core stuff but as far as impressive.... No.
This is not impressive, this is is absolutely BS, show me the good stuff, like actual weight lifting. Those pull-ups aren't impressive at all either. I can do the stuff they are doing as part of my taper workout. However, those guys are insanely fast, so props to them.
I don't care where youre coming from, all this body weight stuff is relatively easy. the results do speak for themselves, but look how fast they are when they come into Auburn. They just maintain what they have and get quicker in the water. I dont care about results in the pool, this workout that is posted right here is not impressive by any means.
if they were just coming from a pool and weight workout... and from that picture i see its a weight workout.. my money is on that garrett got them both and should be posting it soon?
"not impressed": as "freak" said, i would love to see you try and do the stuff they do, you have absolutely no right to say whether you are impressed or not by what they do (look at the video description it says that they have just finished a pool and weight session). The results speak for themselves (18.4, 40.9), keep up the good work guys.
i just expected to see some insane stuff considering how fast these guys are. plenty of people that aren't nearly as accomplished as they are could do the stuff that they are doing here.
Alexei.... Andy has been perfecting the ab wheel for years... some might even say he created it...?? I think he would make us "all" including myself look like little baby girls... hahaha Glad you found the humor in my last comment..! Keep up the great work brother...!!
that's awesome. i'd be interested in seeing what else a program like Auburn does. I'm sure doing their workouts at a lower level would still have a huge impact.
Andy "the body" Diechert of the Race Club makes Alexei Puninski look like a little baby girl doing the ab wheel...!!! Awsome video.... the climbing rope was awsome!
Ok, I've been pretty good about releasing a workout a week so I figure for the sake of alliteration I should start doing a Weekly Wednesday Workout. What do you think?
Part 2 is the chain workout

Yeah, I'm ready for part 2!!! Maybe that was the sprinters warmup..
The ab roller is pretty intense to roll out flat on!

The ab roller is pretty intense to roll out flat on!
sexiest forarms iv ever seen bud
PS: i love the supportive atmosphere they keep between each other.
Just a weird observation
p.s.
please put the video of you doing this workout as soon as possible(if you cannot post it here youtube would be fine)...I need a good laugh.
ON FIRE..call me!
but anyway it looks hard!
'I got this footage AFTER the guys finished a pool and weight workout.'
good luck!!
AU POWER!!!
