let's see you do that, dave. i can't stand people who are always trying to cut down the best just so they don't feel as insignificant...
Maliah Grim posted September 29 at 5:20pm.
Its funny because in the first part it saids that Katie has done it many times but in this video it looks like she is pretty tired. I would be if I was her but I coundn't be because I am 11 and SLOW and she is older and FAST!!!!!! I would like to try that workout for wednesday practice because it is distance and that is what we do that day. I am excited!!!! = )

Katie is training SCY at the olympic swim camp?? the rest of the team (and probably world - including Rebecca Adlington) would have been doing LCM... maybe that's why her 400 and 800 weren't up to much?? any thoughts?

Paul Yetter aka "Edward Stopwatch Hands".
I had to watch without sound so I don't know what he's using them both for, but with that clock on the wall, that's a lot of feedback.

I love it!
Dave posted July 19 at 7:01pm.
Samantha - Yetter's group at NBAC only does LC about 2x/week
Blub posted July 19 at 4:39pm.

love it when galactic gets in these videos. what a great band.

music is "bakers dozen" - galactic
swimming aside i recommend you see these boys in concert.
and oh yah, hell of a set
Go Katie posted July 18 at 9:42pm.
this set is awesome! I think it is also impressive that she did that alone. Obviously she is probably used to training some hard sets alone..but props to Katie Hoff! I know she will succeed in Beijing!
Anonymous Coward posted July 18 at 2:11pm.
this is ridiculously fast!!!

I like Yetters sunnies!!
I cant wait to see HOFF VS RICE going to be so so good to see them race..I think Hoff may go quicker at Beijing then trials...I think they were holding something back at trials...she is a pretty special swimmer!!
Kirk Nelson posted July 18 at 12:43am.
The great ones make it look easy and Katie made that look really easy.

Paul Wolf posted July 17 at 1:00pm.
The flip from back to breast is A way to transition but is not THE way to transition for all swimmers. Every swimmer has to find thier best method to transition. I have tried several ways and for me, the flip IS faster for the turn but I find my push off and pull outs suffer, so that's why I don't do it. Each to thier own.
Short Course Is King posted July 17 at 11:51am.
it is generally accepted that swimming lc is harder in the first place. i believe swimming too much long course, especially during long course season can get someone too broken down. that is why a good balance between lc and sc in-season is a must. during taper, i believe it is better to swim more and more short course as to let body recover more quickly while maintaining the aerobic base. this may not apply as much to a distance swimmer, but i believe for sprinters and mid-d swimmers this is a must. plus all the short course swimming allows for more turn work.
Jo posted July 17 at 10:04am.
A flip to turn from back to breast isnt faster for everyone.
Eric Angle posted July 17 at 9:55am.
I generally think that people put too much emphasis on swimming LC during LC season. My best LC seasons were when I swam for a team that didn't have consistent access to a LC pool, so we trained SC pretty much year round. It didn't seem to affect my conditioning at all, and possibly made my walls better compared to people who trained LC. Even if you do train LC, I can definitely understand swimming more and more SC as you approach a taper meet.
Dm posted July 17 at 9:21am.

Paul was my high school coach in Wisconsin 10 years ago. He was the best then and you can tell he's still the best now!

Good Luck, Paul!
Observer posted July 16 at 9:07pm.
How is it possible that she does not do the flip turn from back to breast? If she loses the gold it might just be because of that...

Sc Speed posted July 16 at 7:57pm.
Swimming yards during a lc season helps with stroke speed. Speed work is always important during any season, and it will help her walls.
Matt Salzberg posted July 16 at 5:36pm.
yea, it is interesting that she is doing yards. And i'm pretty sure that her fastest 2 150's are faster than my last 150 of my IM... absurd. just absurd.
Anonymous Coward posted July 16 at 5:30pm.
I love the music!
Josh Pfau posted July 16 at 5:06pm.
Why are they doing a yards workout? I'm not judging, I'm just wondering.

very impressive.............garrett, you need to put some hard core pump up music music like rage against the machine or something like that to go with these workouts.
? posted July 16 at 9:58am.
She is so impressive, and so is Yetter. IMO he is the best age group coach in the country. One of the things I noticed is that that she has really short arms, but that does not stop her from being flat amazing
