Bryan said: Austin Surhoff has trouble going 2:35? I thought he was a beastly underwater kicker
He's doing free kick... so I don't see how his underwater kicking ability is relevant. By the way, 2:13.4 for a 200 kick is FAST, especially on a non-main set in the middle of warmup. That's like 2:28-29 scm.
This is awesome because it is not just a set that our Elite Group does, but all out groups do this set! From the intro Cougar and Panthers to the Best 12 and Under Age Groupers. It links test sets from group to group, and gives something for these guys to focus on for daily goals and training.
felicia can definately faster with a board. several people i saw there were kicking their secondary stroke. and you can tell from the opening picture of the set that this is partway through the warmup. this isnt even the biggest focus of the practice, there is another hard set coming up.
People who come on here and make comments to the tone of these swimmers aren't doing anything special, really need to learn about swimming. Most of us don't know what they did in days leading up to this, or what they did before this that day. The kid set was pretty hardcore and the times were fast. Before you critique any set or times put up in these videos submit a video of you doing something. Great set and great job by the NBAC swimmers.
ok lets settle this. i am in that group and i did this practice. absolutely no one was wearing fins, felicia can most likely kick faster with a board, 2:44 was done by people not doing free kick, not everyone in the group is amazing at kicking. austin was not wearing fins, no one was.
IRCC Roster (where is the culprit):

oh yeah she is kicking at women's sectional cut on #5.... not impressive at all after holding under 2:25 on the previous four.
Oh... and by the way jack-ass if she were at 2:17 or better SCM she would be kicking under 09 JNAT Cuts. Hopefully you are in you first at the JC because it is obvious you still have a lot to learn.
Kick Speed, are you really trying to demote this set based on your own "facts" which no one knows if they are true or not? 2:02 repeatedly at a leisurely pace is not something i think a guy in junior college could do. Maybe if they were kicking all out. Look at the Arizona set, some of those guys there can't hold a 2:02 pace for several sets. But if it is true...where do you swim? I think we'd all like to find out. Great set by NBAC. Rumor has it the girl in the video can kick faster with a board.
I'm guessing most Floswimming fans remember what it was like last year at this time when there was NO such thing as Floswimming for us. Let's recharge our learning curve from what this site packs into our sport. Thanks.
still pretty early in the year to be kicking really fast. Its early october. these kids are getting smashed into the ground right now. and lets not forget, theyre in high school. when i was in high school i couldnt kick under 1:40 with a board for a 100. in college not too many of us could kick under 1:05 for an all out 100 on a board, so i think thats pretty damn good. you should check out the arizona kick set, and have some bearing on what the best college team in the US can do. but its good to see more kicking videos. and kick speed, im pretty sure felicia lee would wipe the pool deck with your face.
Wow. You kids should get out more. 2:13 with a board is pretty good. 2:13 without a board is not special at all, and I would get crap from my coach if I put that up.
Where are you swimming where you aren't required to be good kickers? Haven't you gotten word that USA Swimming is suggesting(read: demanding) all the big clubs pretty much focus twice as much on kicking as they have been, especially underwater, because that is how you get results? Are you all living under the same rock?
hey kick speed, I have an idea, how about you tell us ur real name, we can look up your times, and then decide if you could kick 2:02, I'd say if your not someone who placed at Nationals, its not really worth checking
Fun to watch....especially since I can see the whole thing this time...,..Good challenge ($1) all in motivational way.....good music....Good timing on coach's part. THANKS
haha kicking a 2:02 once is ridiculous, let alone doing it routinely. anything under 2:30 with a board is really pretty solid, especially in a set like this where its not just one all out effort. really good kickers can go under 2:20 with a board more consistently but theres not too many people like that
its short course yards you idiots. and nobody kicks faster then that "routinely" 217 is nice. and you juniors college swimmer. please stop talking. oh and the 244 kick was done doing IM kick
I am calling B.S. on Kick Speed saying he can kick a 2:02 routinely....Set up a camera and show us...because if you are kicking 2:02 at a junior college I am sure I can find someone to give you money to swim.
Since we can't see the end of the video, perhaps they were going faster at the end of the set than 2:17. That must be the case, for an elite team, right?
2:17 isn't fast for short course yards. I routinely kick 200 yards faster than that with a board, and about 15 seconds faster without a board. Granted Im a guy, but Im also only a Junior College swimmer.
This must be meters, either short or long course. Either that or it explains why NBAC is so much better at meters than yards, lack of kicking.
Oh, and video is broken.
I caught up with Paul Yetter and his group in Baltimore earlier this month.

Ok, I've been pretty good about releasing a workout a week so I figure for the sake of alliteration I should start doing a Weekly Wednesday Workout. What do you think?
Austin Surhoff has trouble going 2:35? I thought he was a beastly underwater kicker
i knew it was you from rich dog
The suspects have been rounded up. Smoke out the chump responsible for this blasphemy and send him back to this forum. That is all.

that quote is great
