Much faster and the LZR is even better. The post NCAA Olympic Trials qualifier meet had 100% success in Olympic Trials cuts.

i think we all love to see world records broken, but the recent string of broken records has come from people who, previous to their record breaking performance, werent even in positions to medal at the olympics or world championships, let alone smash world records...it upsets people to see swimmers come out of relatively nowhere and destroy world records like they have been doing

You guys are all pretty quick to judge... must be pretty easy behind a computer screen. Did you all wish the record would stay at 47.8? Did you think it wouldn't ever be broken? If he tests positive or his name comes up on a list somewhere I'll eat my words but until that happens you have to assume that it's just fast swimming.

You also have to remember this guy is either 6'4 or 6'6 depending on which French website you trust so think of some of the heavily muscled guys you know and imagine them at 6'6 and then imagine them right after a race when blood is rushing to their chest / back / arms... of course they are going to look huge.

I've coached guys bigger than Alain and I've coached guys stronger than him (heck I'm stronger) and you better believe my guys were natural and you better believe I am too.

With my muscle mass if I were 6'6 I'd be much bigger than Bernard and I know a lot of other guys who would be too. It's really not that hard, its called dedication in the weight room.

I dont think the suit should be banned. It would be unfair advantage is only a few swimmers could wear the new suits. But they are available to the public so anyone can wear it. Until these suits become more important than training, they shouldnt be banned.

That performance is awesome!!! Just looking at the swimming math. Elite swimmers are now at 21 mid. So if a swimmer with 21.5 speed goes out properly he should be within one second to his feet (22.5). If he has great stamina and endurance he should bring it home within 1.5 - good endurance 2.0 of his first split. That would give current swimming speeds a world record between 46.5 - 47.0. Still rome for Bernard and others to lower this even more. Look forward to the olympics!!

The suit should be banned as swimming is no longer about who is the fastest, rather, it is about who has the best equipment and who can get away with doping.

Check out a pic of this guy a year ago. Not the same person.

it is very easy to see why people think he is on steroids, however, in the spirit of fairness, we cannot make accusations until he tests positive.

The bigger issue here is the LZR racing suit. There have been 11 world records set since the release of this suit, all of them set in the suit. That fact must bring into question the credibility of the suit. Governing bodies in swimming are already reviewing the thickness of the suit because a thicker suit provides buoyancy to someone who may not actually be buoyant without this suit.

What about Matt Biondi?? He was not that small..
Let's have some sportsmanship, he is clean until proved, and a bet this guy is tested every single time he jumps in the water.

He has always been big, but being big isn't enough there are a lot of big swimmers who swim around 48,7-49,6. Why doesn't anyone raise questions about them? cause they are not winning or breaking records. Lars Frölander did a 46 split on a 4x100 free, that alone shows that the 47,5 we have seen now is possible.

That guy is a GIANT. Gary Hall is right in questioning him. Hes bigger then any other guy out there by a long shot and his face definatly doesnt look like it could go with that body.
