Is this yards or meters?

I figured that my sprint times in pratice in a short course yard pool from a push are about the same as my fastest times in a meter pool

looks like a pretty sweet set...for all those hating on uga or their set or their times should just take it as it is...they are world class athletes training hard/high heart rate sets...its not necessarily always about practice times. After all, who cares if you go near best times in practice if you cant get top 2 at trials! Peace.

meh is a girl. is she went 24 in a 50 fly we'd have a new world record holder. she also goes that fast in practice. see yall at trials.

play nice now. as i've said before, this is not the collegeswimming.com message boards where everyone just rips each other. keep it civilized! discuss the workouts, but stop attacking each other...unless you're in 7th grade of course, because then i guess it's appropriate.

Meh.   June 2, 2008 at 11:33am
klj's 100s were :58-:60s...true to form, she was much closer to the trials cut in the 50s where she was going 26s.

and you have to take their workout times with respect to their meet times. I've seen much slower girls go in the :59 range in a set like this. I've seen many girls go under 1:08 fly and 32/33 back 50s. As far as a long set, the longest thing was 100 fast, 3 times through out the set. the first and third 200s were fairly fluffy. i would want them faster.

and whoever made the claim that they were just acclimating to long course ~month ago? Trials are in 4 weeks...they should have been training LC for the last several months consistently since neither of them are in college anymore and have no reason to train short course. That's a crap excuse.

not sure whats impressive? i'd say those are some pretty fast times they are posting. kara's comin pretty close to making trials in the 100 and verhoef going 24s and 25s on a 50 fly is pretty sick as well. keep in mind this is not a lactate set... and its lcm.

this workout shows theres no secret formula to going fast, sometimes you just have to bust your butt even if its not that exciting

To be the best. You sometimes have to do some (visually) boring stuff. But as a swimmer I love to do these kind of sets. Because its such an rewarding feeling you get.

Looks like a pretty tough VO2 max set to me.

I think :58s for KLJ is pretty darn good. That's only four seconds off race pace for her and each of those 200s has some fast swimming in it.

Anyone ever notice MD's butterfly just doesn't seem to have that connection to a higher level of speed/power? It always looks so smooth, but not very powerful...

Anyhow some sick focus and times they put up! That seems like a great set with active recovery mixed in. Definitely a break your body down to the bone set! Lots of aerobic and anaerobic work in there.

It is interesting to see this kind of set too because of all the unique sets coaches have shown garret when he came. Either way the coach made a great set because the swimmers look like they performed like they needed to!

i think if you swim that set properly like they all did, you would probably get freaking tired pretty fast. Its long course too and when youre doing that much all out sprinting it taxes you regardless of how much rest you get, and in their case they werent getting full recovery by any extent. I thought it was impressive

Interesting. Kara Lynn going :26 mid-high and :58-1:00s is not impressive for her. And 1:07 100 fly on the 1st round from someone who goes under :59? meh. It's even less impressive for those dudes. I'd rather see them do fewer repeats but have to be extraordinary rather than 12 "eh" repeats. Now that's boring.

Come on now, Kara Lynn Joyce tore that set up: 26's on the 50s, and 58's on the 100s... plus they had to make sendoffs so the its not like they were just sitting around recovering

Come on now "bored." Sometimes, good old fashioned long sets are what swimmers need to continue making progress. That's a great 2,400 conditioning set that gets them to be consistently fast throughout. It's a GREAT set. It can't be sit-skulling 25's and running dives into the pool ALL the time!
