swim coaches assoc. is talking about boycotting...but if any single coach breaks, it all falls (obviously)

The A cut is dumb anyway, just make a consideration cut and call it a day. Those who would be getting these A cuts already know they're going anyway (for those arguing that it would change taper habits).
In response to the discussion on short course vs long course. Seeing that the long course A cut is as fast as the FINA Olympic "A" standard in some instances, I don't anticipate we'll have much of a problem with people sneaking in with those times.

it'll be fun to see how fast the short course times can get with the new suits. too bad cesar didn't stick around for one more year and a possible 39...

You guys should do something like 1st and 10. Garrett could be the host and Chris could challenge a guest. I think that would be pretty cool.

i remember an auburn guy last year who went 158 in the 200m fly at a last chance meet. i think he mightve even been ranked 2nd on the psyche sheet with his CONVERTED time. but at ncaa's he didnt even swim the time that was invited to the meet...

I think they need to eliminate long course time standards. the ncaas is scy not lcm. they should follow the same strategy as olympic trials being lcm cuts only. the reason they do this is that there are some people that just can't swim long course compared to their short course. they need those walls. same thing goes for long course. some people need that open water. it's not fair for a guy that has a sick long course swim to take a spot in the meet away from someone who is faster short course.
Their vote doesn't mean LZR's will be banned if thats what you're asking. Its a symbolic message.
Oldcat posted October 16 at 4:36pm.
does the college swim coaches assoc have any input as th whether or not the lzr's can be used at ncaa's? they voted against it but does their vote mean anything?
A posted October 16 at 1:26pm.
I think this could allow for more competition since most wont achieve the A cut, then they need to be more competitive and make sure they are faster than others with the B cut in order to be in that top 22 or so swimmers per event at NCAAs. All this really changes is the level of certainty for people but there will still be the same number of swimmers per event so its not much of a difference.

what would be great would be if you could post a link or just post the times so that everyone could quickly see them and not have to search around the net.
Chris DeSantis hit the nail on the head. With the LZR being allowed for competition this year, records will be broken on both Men's and Women's side.

Ususally 22-25 swimmers in each event will get selected anyway, so I don't think swimmers will be in panic mode to achieve an A standard as times far below those cuts will make the meet.
aw hell, even better... let's just fly everyone out there. Medals and flowers for everyone. We can all take turns getting pictures taken on the medal stand.
