We will be glad to show something at conference!

I didn't know that points from dual meets and previous conference meets counted towards this season's conference. Glad to see some people are still stuck in the past.

Ya back in my day we walked to school uphill both ways and jumped out of planes without parachutes and we liked it!

Back In My Day   February 9, 2009 at 12:38pm
Back when I was swimming (I won't completely date myself), we would have to climb these ropes frontwards and backwards uphill in the snow. They wouldn't be inside some coushy high humidity warm 80 degrees pool. And we dropped into the hard ground and rocks below. And we liked it!!!

Keep in mind that during most of the year they do multiple rope climbs at this station. It's not getting up the thing once, its getting up 3 times WITH a weight vest on, without using your legs after 9 other stations. That's Utah style, and that's legit! Look out for this guy (and his teammates) come MWC champs!

david marsh has swimmers do this. also, i feel this should not put stress on shoulders; when done properly, it should use large muscles in the lats and triceps.

Big deal, Shoulberg has had his HIGH SCHOOL swimmers doing this for at least 30 years. I remember watching Bart Schneider hold onto a rope with each hand and climb to the top, GA has two ropes hanging over there pool. I remember watching Jeff Stewart climb the rope upside down and touch the top beam with his feet. I remember watching Jane Boyland, a 10th grader at the time, do this.

Utah Circuit Preview: Station #10 Rope Climb

February 6, 2009
Utah does a really cool power circuit that includes some stations that feature ideas I've never seen. This is one exercise that a few other programs do, but I've never seen anyone climb this fast.
