I was skeptical, but its pretty obvious there, at least one elbow is completely out. Good call on that one.

Ok, here we go. See the site: http://sites.google.com/site/fastswimmerr/

I have 1 picture and a 4 second video. Nothing "borderline" here ... no "elbow flowing right with the surface" ... play the video frame by frame ... she's so far out of the water that her arm & elbow create a splash on the way "down".
Page 29 of the NCAA Swiming & Diving Rules states "the elbows shall be under the calm level of the water". "Under" .. as in "under" ... the officials at College Station should hang their heads ...
go back to the grassy knoll...

So which is it "completely legal" or "borderline legal/illegal"? Sometimes the elbows skim the surface and sometimes they are out. Plenty of video shows this (amateur and professional).
"Nearly all of the best BR's swim this way"
Not the other top finishers racing at NC's.
Love to see the pic's offered up by illegal!
I have no axe to grind. Plain and simple I think the officiating at NCAAs missed the boat. I think an illegal stroke was allowed. That is not fair. And fair has to be the only consideration.

I'm presently trying to see if I can post pix up on the College Swimming website so others can comment (still trying to get some pix from the video). If I can't, I'll send them to you. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks bad to me. Stay tuned.

Can we post pix here? I have some video that I will try to get a jpg out of to show what the Wisconsin stroke looks like ... looks obviously illegal to me but ...
Or would I be better off posting something on the College Swimming website?

I have watched her swim...I've actually trained/coached her. It's completely legal! Her POs suck...still! Her elbows flow right with the surface just as they should. Nearly all of the fastest BRers recovery is right at the surface of the water. Borderline legal/illegal but thats the fastest way to do it.

It is safe to say that yes, Teri McKeever is the most successful female swim coach in history!!! The Bears definitely deserved the Pac 10 and national title. They have done an amazing job pulling themselves together and working as a team. And to second what my dad said, Cal Swimming has never gotten enough credit. Those recruits who choose to go elsewhere because of a person telling them that it's too difficult just aren't up to the challenge, or to discover what Cal is really about for themselves.

Cal is an extremely special place. I am honored to have been a part of Cal swimming for the past 4 and a half years, and if anyone has any questions or comments about the university or the swimming program they can email me at:
GO BEARS!

I hope any recruit who is considering Cal has the opportunity to watch this video. Teri creates a very special environment for athletes at the No. 1 public university in the world. It's not easy -- the school doesn't cater to athletes and Teri expects a full commitment 24/7. There are plenty of coaches out there who recruit "against" Cal by telling athletes that they won't be able to make it at Berkeley. That's unfortunate as it's a very special team at a very special university set in a very special place. Go Bears!

How many post game/event interviews with national champion winning coaches would there be a mention of GPA? Not many. Good for them.
