not only does it make u stronger it makes ur muscles fatigue slower because the creatine is pretty much like a legal steroid and increases muscle recovery and a bunch of other sutff that i dont know much about but i noticed it anyways i would try it out
The only thing I would recommend is a combination of foods, and maybe a recovery drink after a workout. Endurox R4 & restore for two. Most supplements aren't worth it, like straight whey protein. If you have too much, you just pee it out ( = expensive pee).
Does anybody know if supplements are used at Zona? Is a creatine supplement used?
not that special but simple, and i think the simple things work the best.
Awesome video, workout and song!
I'm very impressed by the fact there are no differences between gender in workouts !!
I would like to know some opinions about the crunch and side crunch, the abs are here in order to stabilize the spinal column and it's thanks to our abs that our chest remain straight Instead of falling forward.
I have readed that it might be better to do the plank and side plank in order to make strong core without back injuries.
Thanks a lot if someone can enlighten me about this point !
Logically, it makes sense to avoid full sit-ups to prevent the suspected high compressive loads on the lumbar spine, but if a swimming has no history of back injury it is not necessary to avoid the maneuver. Multiple abdominal exercises in various positions are recommended for numerous reasons and spine protection is one of these reasons.

nice music Garret!
Guess it works-very basic stuff.
Would love to see more of G's weight vids...
like bicycle crunches?
Another example would include a plank routine with mountain climbers and cross over kicks to initiate hip flexion in the prone position. Planks can incorporate breast and fly specific movements by having the athletes rock forward and backwards on their toes in the prone position.
Jeff thanks for the clarification.
Great workout, great song Evidence is great. It was great to see the utilization of their facility, I've never seen side-ups performed over the edge of the pool. One criticism, I would have liked to see more exercises of the abdominal routine using multiple planes (especially in freestylers and backstrokers). There was a lot of unidirectional movements which are common in breast/fly, but free and back use a lot of rotation and a crunch doesn't simulate that movement.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEAT idea (not)
What are you a pure age group swimmer? Do you have any experience in this sport?
Ya performance is important but at a senior level you have to understand that performance out of the pool in things such as dryland is just as important - you need to have the ability to perform in the pool after a dryland workout such as this as dryland workouts like this at the senior level should be standard.
I really hope you aren't a coach of any senior level athletes as I am sure they are just wasting their time under you. If you are a swimmer I hope you are 13 years old, because if you are a senior athlete you pretty much just summed up your whole mentality to the sport.
Im gonna take a little credit to those side crunches over the pool, had been doing them in the weightroom for years :)
Also, it is well known that if Frank cannot do something, then we are not to do it. Example being running stadium steps. One summer we ran 15 ups at Arizona Stadium...if you have seen it, you know thats hard. We did this because we kept going until Frank could not do anymore, we then ran back to the pool and swam.
Great to see some Zona practices, take me back! :)

Why do people act so snotty on this site? Who do you think you are? I'm going to bet you're not near as intelligent about swimming as you would like to believe.
So much of what they do out in Tucson is not going to be exciting to some people, but clearly they've found the simple stuff that just plain works.

Before or after the water workout? If the swimming is still to come, that makes for a hell of a practice. Personally, I think it makes more sense to do dryland after the swim, so that performance in the pool is not compromised.

Heck of a core routine, was this before their swim workout? I always struggle to keep my body position after hitting hard core work, its not wonder their at the top.
