Here's the thing about the broadcast contracts. The "Olympic" sports on a campus are typically bundled into other contracts for football and basketball.

The smartest thing that Floswimming could probably do is try to work within the system and offer his services to broadcast rights holders. Lots of times, these types of events are probably afterthoughts in a much bigger financial deal.

However, that does not eliminate the fact that someone else owns the broadcast rights to some of these events that are appearing on Floswimming. A similar argument can be had as follows. You have a really cool car that I think should be driven around and shown off, and am willing to personally drive that car around for everyone to see.

But, it's your car. You prefer to have it sit in your garage and never see the light of day.

It might not be the coolest thing in the world, but you own the car and it's your right to dictate how that car is used.

When you think about it, it looks like FSN is allowing Garrett to keep the American record footage up. That's pretty cool to me, because FSN has the right to knock all the footage from the event off this site if they wanted to.

You know what's FOR SURE to change that? Anonymously whining about it on a swimming fan website.

Big Bucks? Yeah right, swimming is an after thought in the minds of a company like FSN. Their random weekday noon broadcast of selected events used to be a nice bonus because there was no other outlet for swimming races. But with a site like this, and a guy like Garrett willing to put in the work it's time the Big 12 and most conferences reconsidered their broadcast contracts.

it's not 'nixing' someone's site using leverage -- it's broadcasting rights people pay big bucks for. you can call Fox Sports Net with your complaints.
