Imagine Auburn's relay with Cielo and Targett...they would be incredibly close to 1.20.00 for the first 200 of a 400FR!!
@ Peter - I doubt Righi is a player this year. From ncaa last year all he did was ride Cielos wake twice to a 2nd place.

Im so disappointed Cielo decided not to swim with AU one more season, watching him and Targett square off against Adrian and Righi in the 50 and 100 would give me enough incentive to buy a ticket and travel to College Station in March. However, that was his personal decision and more power to him, he's getting paid to swim.

Unsuited times are te only fair comparison but hunting down what times were suited/shaved/tapered is impossible

Has Cielo beaten 42.40 in a brief? In fact, I want to know just how many swimmers ever went faster than 42.40 in a brief. Given that Matt Biondi's old NCAA record of 41.81 was set in brief, do we know if Biondi ever beat that in a dual meet? Who else could even sniff 42.40 in a brief in the pre-body suit era? Lars Frolander? I'm grasping for straws here.

Did Brett Hawk make Targett as good as Cielo? If he has not rested then I think he is. if the ncaa disallowed lzrs we would know for sure.

What do you mean? I don't think either team was rested because overall there were not many outstanding swims but it was a fast meet regardless because Texas and auburn are good
I'm saying earlier in the year Targett went 41.93 at Short Course Nationals, where presumably he wore a suit. He went 42.40 here against Texas. I'm wondering if we haven't seen Targett rest/taper at all and that the difference in times is purely tech suit v. brief.

Anyone else wondering if Targett rested AT ALL for mid season? 'Cause this is only about .5 off the midseason time... could that alone be the suit? If so he will really light things up come NCAA's.

Cielo actually went 42.80 in this meet a year ago with the meet on the line in the 400 freestyle relay. So I kinda doubt that he would have "cruised" a 43 at this point of the year.

Target won't break Cielos records. Cielo would have cruised a 43

I think we could see a 40.6 out of Matt Targett this year. I think he's just THAT good.

Isn't 42.40 faster than what Ceilo went at least years Auburn vs. Texas duel meet? I think we could see some mind boggling swims out of Targett this year.
